learning to read the fretboard heeeeeeelp....?

i'm just starting to learn how to play the guitar, but i'm having serious problems learning to read the fretboard i've downloaded so many programs but it like they dont show you how, can someone recommend or teach me the formula or something.. like if i was a 5 year old, i cant get how it goes from e to f , and from a to c..its kinda hard.. i pretty much under stand the numbers if its on line d and has a 3 on it, its the 3rd fret down, i just need some serious help

You should never punish a child for not being able to do something. Have you taken him to the eye doctor to make sure his eyes are OK? Has he been tasted for disabilities? Have you noticed if he can sit long doing other things or is he up and down all the time? Tell his doctor about his disability to learn to read and make sure it is a disability before you do anything else. He could have ADAH and there is a medication to control this. What ever his favorrite small pieces of candy (like M & M's) or nuts are, go buy some. You then use a rewards system. And for any tiny achievement, you brag on him and give him an award. Never critisize him. Critizising only makes things worse, praise goes a long way. The way I taught my 4 year old granddaughter to read is I got a book that I wanted her to read. I then make cards with the words in the book. She learned the words then I gave her the book and she read every word. She was so proud of herself she was ready to read other books. You punish a child for doing bad things or being bad, you do not punish him because he can't learn. You encourage him, make a game of it to make it interesting This same granddaughter learned to ride a two wheel bike in 30 minuits time. I just told her what she needed to practice. I praised her even it she didn't get her other foot on he paddle in time to keep paddling but saying Oh you almost had it! and clapping. She rides her bike like a pro now. Her 6 year old brother can't ride a two wheel bike. He is afraid, I do not put him down for it. I tell him when he is ready he will learn and you are not ready today. Our children are not perfect, are we? Some have a small flaw that you have to work around, but it can be done, with a lot of love, patience, understanding, praise and reward. Blessings
