I have a project in Careers where we're supposed to study one career path and I chose teaching English in Japan. I know the starting pay is somewhere around 250 000 yen, but I'd like to know the top pay, or as relatively high as it could go. Please help!

The pay doesn't mean anything unless you know the cost of living- which is pretty high in Japan. Go to eslcafe.com, click on Stuff for Teachers and Forums, and ask your questions there. There are a lot of people who are teaching in Japan on those boards.

I CAN tell you that the top salaries go to people with Ph.D.s who work in universities. And that there are lots of opportunities for teachers to earn money beyond their salaries by tutoring employees for businesses or students who have failed their English classes.

250,000 is kinda average. Many schools will pay less. JET will pay more.
